WOYWW

As you can see by previous posts I like to mention who has given me inspiration to post on a particular subject, and link them so that others know about them too.

Lindsey W.- The frugal crafter is one of my favorite go to spots when I feel overwhelmed and need to get  back on track.  She is funny and talented with a little wisdom thrown into her videos (kinda like a head slap Denozo style).

Last night as the cleaning began on my work station, and organization of crafting supplies I realized that Holy Cow I have so much stuff, I've been stuffing it into bins (5 x55 gallon to be exact).  Its time to thin - donate, use, give away or throw away.  As I was putting things into piles for those categories I realized that I had scrapped pages and never put them into albums.  Yes I immediately stop sorting and grabbed the nearest empty scrapbook and off we went.  2 hours later I had the most beautiful book - my boys immediately started looking thru it and commenting that yes they remembered all of the pictures.  What a wonderful conversation that was (my boys are 16 and 8).  Its great whenever you can get a teenager to say more that 3 words in a conversation.

Here are some pictures of the finished product.

It really was a great night.  Hope you enjoy and know that it is NEVER TO LATE to create memories.  Until next time - Happy Crafting.

Welcome Baby

I have been off work for the last couple of days for the holidays, it has been wonderrrrrrrrrrrrful. Finally feel my creative spirit starting to awaken again

I needed a baby card for a friend that is having a boy,  Clips-n-Cuts did a card a few weeks ago that I thought would be wonderful.  Here is my take on "Welcome Baby"

The colors could easily be switched for a girl.

Items used are Ribbon Banner Style No. S118 - Simon Says Stamps
paper - Creative Memories Collection- Tuscany (Photo mats & Journaling Boxes) 1989 D.O.T.S Stitched Cloud (someone gave this to me a long time ago)

Hope you had a good holiday, may your new year be merry and bright.

Movement/Unique Cards

This is a wonderful masculine card
Hello everyone, hope this beautiful weekend in March finds everyone full of sunshine and blue skies.  My Stampin Up buddy Nancy held a special card making class this weekend it was on Movement and Unique cards.  While I have seen these made before I thought they would be much harder to create, in all honesty once you made one the rest were easy. Nancy is going to post the link on her site with all of the specifics.  Anyway here are the cards, please note that unless specified all items used are from the Stampin Up line.....

The Card folds so that you looks like an
easel.  When adding the caption at the bottom
use dimensional adhesives so that the top of the
card catches on it securing it.

In the card to the right the butterfly on the top and the bottom both have been attached using dimensional adhesives.

The birthday card at the bottom has 4 blocks that when you pull on the tab at the bottom flip up, with the last one saying Happy Birthday.

the next card uses the same principle just more generic.  I so love that you can customize this to whatever you need.  You need to remember on these cards that the strip of paper or ribbon in the center can not be adhered to the paper or your movement won't work.

these cards are simply beautiful and amazing.

Permiere Dazzles by Paper Wishes

Dazzles are a unique laser sticker that you can do so much with.  Paper Wishes offers a monthly or bi-monthly subscription in which they send a packet to your doorstep with 3 or 4 sheets of dazzles, 5 sheets or more of paper that will coordinate with the dazzles, a few embellishments and a complete instructions on how to make 6 projects from your supplies.  (mind you that you need to provide your own scissors, cutter, clue or tap and sometimes ink).  This brown flat package is always a welcome site at the door step when I get home from work.

Here is a picture of some of the items from this months kit (note the brown stickers that are missing are on the card farther down).

This is the first page of the news letter that goes with the package  (I've only given you the first page you will have to subscribe to receive the rest - sorry rules of the game).

Now the card that they recommended was a 6 1/2 x 12 card.  That is way too large for my likes so I moved to a smaller card and improvised.  My final card wound up being 5 1/5 x 4 1/8

on this card the pastel colors is a 2" x 4 1/8 strip adhered and placed about 1 1/2 inch from the bottom of the card.  The swirly brown sticker is trimmed to 2 inches, placed on the seam between the two colored pages.  the Brown butterfly/sunflowers were placed on a the yellow paper, then cut out to give you the finished look.  Follow the same process until done with the leaves.  a brown swirly was used as a stem for the sun flower.  The words Hello and Sunshine where placed on light green paper and cut around.  Another swirly was added above the word Hello and two small brown butterflies are added.

The entire card took about 10 minutes to make.  The inside was to be designed as well but I liked that so much that I'm going to make another card from that.  Hope you enjoy .

Paulette Jarvey is the founder for this wonderful site -she is a very hands on type person..They offer Webisodes (which are free) telling you how to use a new products, products you might of had for a while and some that are still in the "work".  If you get a chance get out there and at least browse there website its amazing.

A few of my favorite crafting sites

As a lifelong crafter once said "ideas come from everywhere" I don't think they ever thought that it would come from a computer and from nearly every country.  With that in mind I would like to direct you to a couple of great card/scrapbooking pages Clips-n-Cuts .  I love Vicky Papaioannou's ideas and the fact that she lists out most everything that is used in her creations.  On most weeks she posts a video (right side top of page click the link called "weekend videos") that takes you step by step on how to make a card, if there isn't a video she tries to walk you thru making the card with pictures and directions.  Vicky is also the co-owner of Lilypad Cards.  Both of these sites offer an amazing amount of ideas along with a few giveaways (which is a bonus in my mind - especially if you win one).  Check out a couple of the other sites attached to her web pages remember - ideas come from everywhere.  It really is amazing to me how much we can learn from others.  Happy crafting everyone.
